Smithsonian Science Stories - 2nd Grade Reader

My plein air artwork and observation practices were featured in the Smithsonian Institute’s Reader for Second Grade. The content was adapted from my original notes by science curriculum developer Logan Schmidt, and the eight page layout was made by the Smithsonian team.

“Do you like to explore the outdoors?

My name is Claire Giordano, and I am an artist. I like to go hiking outside. I paint what I see. I pick a place where I can see land or water. I sit down with my painting supplies and begin to paint. You can do this too, wherever you live.”
