Goat Rocks Wilderness

A field painting created in the Goat Rocks wilderness. I started the painting in the early afternoon, and as the sun slowly moved across the sky, the light of the scene shifted beautifully. The peak became a collection of subtle shadows and purple-grey rock, and subtle yet spectacular shadows from the alpine trees crept down the snowfields.
