This is my favorite tree in Escalante. It is a Ponderosa Pine, nestled between rolling domes of yellow and red sandstone. I returned here often to paint this tree and learn how to convey a sense of this place. This is one of my favorite paintings from my residency at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in September 2022.
